Over 50 FIU researchers attended the FIU-RCMI Health Disparities Research Seminar featuring guest speaker Dr. Vetta Thompson, E. Desmond Lee Professor of Racial and Ethnic Diversity at Washington University. Her presentation, “From Health Disparity to Health Equity: Identity, Community and Policy” focused on the multiple factors that are determinants of mental health disparities. Dr. Thompson highlighted the importance of expanding health services to include underrepresented racial/ethnic groups through community collaborations, research, and implementation.
