FIU-RCMI Research in Progress Seminar featuring Dr. Raymond Balise
The FIU-RCMI Research Infrastructure Core hosted a Research in Progress Seminar entitled, SCAN360: A Web Platform for Studying Cancer, HIV and Other Diseases Across Florida, featuring Dr. Raymond Balise, Assistant Professor at the Department of Public Health Sciences and Biostatistics for the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. SCAN360 is a user-friendly tool which allows researchers, policymakers and community leaders to visualize and summarize disease burden along with protective and risk factors for hundreds of communities across the state. Dr. Balise demonstrated the utility of the website and discussed its growth from a tool for understanding the disease burden around the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center into a tool for studying disease and health disparities across the state.
