Approximately 21 researchers attended the FIU-RCMI Research in Progress Series Seminar, Answering the Public Health Professional’s Call To Service: COVID-19 Edition, featuring Dr. Jason Salemi, Associate Professor at the College of Public Health, University of South Florida. COVID-19 emerges as a pandemic. The need for accurate, complete, and timely data is profound. The volume of misinformation and disinformation is almost unbelievable. Dr. Salemi covered how many public health professionals have answered the public’s call to service, the challenges of doing so, and some lessons learned from being cast in an unfamiliar center stage position.
